Gem Budd

I have adored dogs for as long as I can remember, often preferring them for company above anything else.

I chose to set up Fjell Canine Company as a lifeline for those with dogs who have specific needs that are not usually catered for or prioritised with most dog walking services. From experience with my own reactive dog, it was a huge stress trying to find him the appropriate care whilst we were working. If this is currently your situation, then I would love to help you.

I am passionate about making sure all dogs, regardless of their personality and needs, can enjoy life to the fullest extent. I can cater for a number of different behavioural needs on walks, whether that's human aggression and/or dog aggression, noise phobias or frustration reactivity, to name a few.

I am fully insured and DBS checked, and will take care of your dog/s as if they were my own. Any training that is undertaken on walks will be science-based and ethical, with a positive, rewards-based approach being at the core of everything I do.

My Education

On to the more formal part - I have a BSc (Hons) in Human and Social Sciences (Psychology and Sociology) (British Psychological Society accredited).

Currently, I am studying a Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Applied Animal Behaviour - Canine (recognised by the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC)).

My psychology degree has given me a solid basis for a career in canine behaviour, such as an understanding of the concepts underpinning behaviour modification and the importance of ethics. This background, combined with the canine behaviour diploma I am currently in the process of completing will hopefully enable me to eventually qualify as a Clinical Animal Behaviourist.
